Objective: To learn from practice about children’s and young people’s participation and leadership in the implementation of an ECD programme in the rural context.
Through a process of quantitative and qualitative participatory research in two rural communities of the municipality of São José de Mipibu, Rio Grande do Norte, the project is gathering situational information about families, children and adolescents. The municipal government expects to use this grant to start an ECD programme based on youngsters and family participation, using the experience gained during the implementation of a previous BvLF-funded project: Childhood Messengers.
The main areas of focus in the research are: social indicators, the bonding between mother and child and the pro-social capacities of youngsters as facilitators in social programmes.
