SamenRekenen Onderzocht
Since: 2006
Region: Utrecht, Rotterdam and Den Haag
Objective: To systematically investigate the effects of the SamenRekenen approach on the development and the learning of young children.
This developmental research project is a practice-oriented process analysis which underpins the Foundation-supported project SamenRekenen. The project seeks to encourage the understanding of mathematical concepts in young children aged 18 months to four years. The project has been set up in a Samenspel context which reaches young children, their mothers and playgroup leaders in an informal play and learning environment. The research will be done in Utrecht, Rotterdam and Den Haag, the same locations where the SamenRekenen project is implemented.
The first part of the research focuses on processes and will give insights into patterns of communication and interaction between children and adults. The second part of the research will focus on the conditions required at the start of primary school and how far SamenRekenen and other preschool programmes create favourable conditions for children to meet these conditions. The final part of the research will give attention to recommendations relevant for policy and further dissemination of SamenRekenen.
