Emotional Recovery of Tsunami-Affected Children

Objective: To contribute to trauma recovery and enhancing the emotional and social development of young children through the involvement of various stakeholders within the community.
Support to children aged 0 -7 affected by the Tsunami disaster will be provided in three selected locations - Taimuang in Phangnga, Lanta Island in Krabi and Sugsamrang in Ranong. Through involvement of various stakeholders within the community, the project aims to contribute to trauma recovery and enhancement of emotional and social development of young children. Parents and other actors such as teachers, health workers and community leaders will be trained on social-emotional related issues.
Tools will be developed to assess children's social and emotional wellbeing as well as progress. The functioning of all actors will be monitored by project staff. Furthermore, the media will be used to disseminate information, among others, on proper mental health care.
