Resources in early childhood

In funding work with disadvantaged young children, the Bernard van Leer Foundation is part of a broad community of organisations and individuals working to enhance understanding of early childhood development and to advance child rights. The purpose of these pages is to locate our work in this context.

• This brief backgrounder explains why General Comment 7 of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child is so central to our work. Also you can find here links to the full texts of articles summarised in our book on child rights and young children.
• Our knowledge and information hub on early childhood issues is presented in collaboration with the international information support centre Source.
• We constantly update the diary of events page with news of forthcoming events and conferences that we believe may be of interest to readers working in early childhood.
• Our Resource Centre in The Hague, containing over 10,000 books, journals and resource materials on early childhood issues, is open to the public by appointment.
