Harry Leliveld, 1939-2010

With great sadness we wish to inform that Harry Leliveld, a Trustee of the Bernard van Leer Foundation, has passed away.

Harry Leliveld (March 1st 1939 - April 9th 2010) served on the board of the Bernard van Leer Foundation since 2002, following fifteen years of service as Executive Director of the Van Leer Group Foundation.

Harry was firmly committed to marrying business standards and philanthropic values. He was smart in making investments and wise in counseling the Foundation on its philanthropic choices, thus embodying two qualities valued by the Van Leer family and by us all.

He served millions of disadvantaged children worldwide with wisdom, empathy and vision. The staff of the Bernard van Leer Foundation, both past and present, have benefited enormously from Harry's leadership. We will miss his integrity and warmth.

We wish Jet, the children and the grandchildren strength and fortitude in this difficult time.
